Nagpur -5th June 2014
Maharashtra Governor Shri K.Sankaranarayanan who is strong follower of Gandhiji and believes in clean and strong functioning of Indian parliamentary system has been urged by activist group Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti (VJAS) not to nominated political parties office bearer to Maharashtra as legislative council 12 such members the term of expired on March 12 and the governor is expected to nominate a new batch soon as Maharashtra Govt. is floating the stipulated norms as nominee selected by congress-NCP has not included any eminent person from the field of literature, arts, social service, sciences ,informed Kishor Tiwari of VJAS informed today.
Indian constitution under Article 171 section 5 Maharashtra Governor has been empowered to nominate 12 persons as members of the Maharashtra legislative council in order to maintain importance and seriousness and this provision was made to have representation and involvement of expert and gross root social activist who can’t be elected in normal circumstances in order to have their expertise and knowledge utilization in law making process but now a days purpose of this provision has been lost and it is being misused to get political rehabilitation of fulltime active official of ruling parties moreover unwanted social elements and businessmen and contractors getting entry to upper house by paying huge money to political parties in power, Tiwari alleged.
‘After general election result and mandate of people going against the earlier UPA Govt.,all constitutional appointments done by dislodged Govt.,as the healthy democratic ethical practices resignation of Maharashtra Governor was most expected but that has not happened yet but it is unfortunate for Governor holding the post moreover taking decision benefiting defeated political parties and allowing them to run their ill motivated agenda run as
it is reported that the ruling parties while recommending the names to the governor have not followed the norms set by constitution hence the selection process is unconstitutional hence Guv. is being requested ignored the nomination process till new Maharashtra Govt. takes the office’ Tiwari added.
‘We have seen now days the process has too hostile to continue as notorious and dubious dozen of lawmakers who are completely unfit into class of litterateurs, artists or scientists are in ‘Q’ as the next batch ,we hope governor reject these nominations’ Tiwari hoped.
