Vidarbha where more than million acres of land has been eroded and crop lost amounting more than Rs.20,000 crore but Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has already submitted a proposal seeking Rs1,180 crore for Vidarbha
while roads and bridges have been damaged on a large scale and need urgent repairs but till date final assessment report  of state govt. has not been submitted

When Indian Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh visited vidarbha on 1st July 2006 for announcing vidarbha relief package of Rs.3750 and he told the farm widows that his visit to give healing touch to distressed farmers  but  all promises given by him went in vain  and complete relief package followed by farm loan waiver failed to address the farm suicide issue failed miserably and his so called ‘Healing Touch’ has given more pain and despair now Indian Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar is on three day “Farm suicide tourism”  with same slogan that his tour is not political one and he is visiting flood hit region to give healing touch to dying farmers but farmers are requesting him not to rub the salt to their wounds by giving to promises and creating rosy picture as it’s trigger more suicide as when PM promise of farm credit ,direct aid and restoration to  sustainable agriculture and livelihood of agrarian community turned to be hoax ,

Massive response to ‘‘Samwad Yatra” – Distressed Farmers urged Govt. and Civil society to look at Despair

Massive response to ‘‘Samwad Yatra” – Distressed Farmers  urged Govt. and Civil society to look at Despair
Wanjari(vidarbha)-10th September 2013
VJAS  Activists  in agrarian crisis hit  Vidarbha region today started first phase of  a three-day rally, called “Samvad Yatra”, from Tuesday to counsel farmers who are on the verge of mental collapse after the monsoon ravaged their fields received massive response in crisis  ridden village from farmers ,local leaders ,farm widows and hundreds SHG farmers wives ,urging Govt. and civil society to communicate to us  and provide healing touch to these 3 million dying farmers as they are not keen in any special packages as they need restoration right to live with dignity and respect  as region is facing complete social and economic failure ,all emotions and hardships  are being documented and will presented to Govt. and civil society as we are taking this “Samvad Yatra” to all agrarian crisis ridden  district where acute distress and despair is forcing the farmers to kill themselves  and since 2005 more than 11800 farmers suicides have been reported and all relief packages amounting more than Rs.10,000 crore failed to stop the farm suicides  ,Kishor Tiwari convener of Samwad yatra informed today
In first samwad parishad which is part of yatra organized in village wanjari in kelapur taluka of yavatmal district where three farmers suicides  reported recently in last three month which was chaired by local Z.P. member Rokesh Nemanwar and sarpanch santosh bodewar ,KBC fame Aparna Malikar, farm activist mohan jadhav, suresh bolenwar, shekha joshi, nitin kamble  and other all farmers and farm widows  openly  complained that there is complete  collapse food security, NAREGA ,NRHM and farm credit  there is no communicable platform so that their hardship can be redressed and distressed farmers in isolation are killing themselves and massive crop failure this will fuel ongoing crisis and hundreds of farm suicides are feared to take place in relief aid is not given in time, warned village sarpanch santosh bodewar in the meeting.
Over the last three months, there have been reports of at least  200 farmers ending their lives following crop devastation coupled with a cessation of food, medical and credit aid from government agencies and problem of farmers committing suicide was not just political but “a social issue, and its complexity has to be understood in entirety being ignored and Govt  is adopting  piecemeal approach by shortsighted politicians is like administering vitamin injections to a person having cancerous tumour. The government does not want to see the  tumour but just wants to keep on giving feel-good hallucinatory herbs,” Tiwari he said.
Elaborating on the “Samvad Rally,” Tiwari said psychologists specialising in counselling would accompany social activists. “These counsellors specialise in handling distressed and depressed people. We want the farmers to take up the issue and fight for their rights,” he said.
“The situation is grim. It is like an epidemic. Last week there reports of 24 suicides from the Yavatmal district. The flood of suicide reports is concomitant with the heavy monsoon, something which the otherwise dry  Vidarbha faced this year after decades.”
The rally will conduct ground-auditing and prepare an assessment report, apart from video-taping conversations with farmers in street-corner meetings.

“We intend to send these video-tapes to the President, Prime Minister and National the Human Rights Commission... so that they can see for themselves the kind of human rights violation taking place every day, every minute,” said Tiwari.

The distress and despair in west vidarbha has claimed four  more farmers suicide in last 24 hours taking toll to 609 in year 2013 after heavy rain and flood damaged crop and as per reports they are

farmers suicides were reported means  every eight hours  one debt trapped aid starved farmer's suicide is being reported but Maharashtra  administration has turned blind eye to these innocent genocide as neither single paisa as relief aid nor the farm credit is being given even after Maharashtra chief minister Prathaviraj chavan has announced the relief package Rs.2000 crore and hostile and corrupt administration is responsible for these farm suicides , Kishore Tiwari of Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti (VJAS) informed today, urging urgent intervention of Indian Govt. to tackle very pathetic situation as state Govt. failed to give any healing touch to dying farming community, crying for food, medicine and relief aid .

VJAS to take out ‘Sanvad Yatra’ from 10th Sept.

The prevailing extreme distress needs urgent counseling of around 5 million debt trapped dying farmers who lost complete crop due massive rain and flood and now main farmer’s festivals like ‘Pola-Ganesh-Durga puja’ followed by Dasara and Diwali , despair and  existing non-communication of Govt. and administration and there is no relief of food ,medical aid and fresh bank credit ,urgent need of ground level counseling is must hence we are starting ‘Sanvad  Yatra’ covering villages where 200 farm suicide reported in last three months and group discussion ,corner meeting ,public hearing will part of this Snvad Yatra and complete ground report  with video footage will be sent to Indian Prez. ,Prime Minister and NHRC for urgent intervention, Tiwari added.
last week we released 24 farmers list who committed suicide in Yavatmal district alone but administration has shocked media reporters when  RDC Yavatmal told them official figure of farm suicides in last three month is 58 and  146 in the year hence actua; farmers suicide figure in 11 district of vidarbha must have crossed 1000 mark as only one out of three farm suicides are being reported  if this is level of distress and despair in rural vidarbha then agrarian crisis is serious than 2006 when Indian Govt.  intervene and Prime minister visited and announced relief package Rs.3750 crore’ tiwari added.

“Most of the  farm suicides are from villages which are flood affected and flood salvaged area and collector yavatmal  district was asked visit families and to report ground truth of distress and despair forcing farmers to kill themselves by Maharashtra chief minister and to  take fresh survey of but administration and babus  have not moved out of A/C cabins and till today has not visited single family where debt trapped and aid starved farmers committed suicide    more over all survey of crop damages are being done on office table resulting  depriving  million families in yavatmal  who are flood affected  from aid who are facing heavy damages to main  crop of cotton, soya, paddy and tur in more than million hector   if apathy of administration is continued ground situation likely fuel more distress and more farm suicides  are feared if immediate central intervention is not reached to dying vidarbha’s flood hit people” Tiwari added.

The unseen record rain in drought prone vidarbha has been creating havoc and one lac families homeless and massive damage to standing crop in an around a million hector amounting more than Rs.20,000 crore hence Maharashtra Govt. being urged to give relief to 2 crore  rain-flood hit population  of vidrabha  as flood-hit are in urgent need of food, compensation, fresh credit and medical help , Tiwari added.

Vidarbha rain-flood crisis needs integrated relief package that should address compensation crop damages to all farmers as rain is till continued  the flood victims are crying for help and property ,credit restoration and fresh crop loan to vidarbha  farmers ,food security for all effected families under antyodaya, free health services  and 100% reimbursement of  fees for higher professional education is need of the hour, Tiwari  urged Maharashtra CM but local administration ground report is not in line with crisis delaying needy help to distressed people.
