Eminent economist Dr Vijay Kelkar appointed By Maharashtra Govt. to study backlog and vidrabha agrarian and tribal crisis to visited Yavatmal  known as dying field of vidrabh and epicenter vidarbha farmers suicides to know ground reality had a detail discussion with farm expert ,traders associations local bodies elected members and farm widows as part his exercise to submit special report to Maharashtra GUV. To thorwlight on the basic issues of on going agrarian crisis claimed more than 10,000 cotton farmers’ suicides to discuss causes  behind the agrarian crisis of region in order  to redress it ,informed farm activist Kishore Tiwari   of Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti VJAS,.
‘Vidarbha agrarian crisis and tribal malnutrition ,starvation ,poor infrastructure, lack of employment generating industries and cotton processing textile hub are very complex issue and fulfillment of vidarbha financial backlog issue is political hyped solution is not practical feasible solution where vidarbha needs long term planning to restore agriculture and environment that will provide opportunities to tackle the various issues’ Eminent economist Dr Vijay Kelkar admitted while taking to farm expert meeting ,Tiwari added.
“All vidarbha crisis are result of wrong policies in the area of crop and water management implemented my Maharashtra Govt. who gave step motherly treatment to this region, used vidarbha as colony of Maharashtra to exploit it resources hence our experience with all previous expert panel is disgusting hence now we demand separate statehood to vidrabh so that farmer and tribal so that they can tackle the crisis with liberty and wisdom ” farm activist Kishore Tiwari   of Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti VJAS,.urged expert panel while given the memorandum at yavatmal collectorate meeting hall.
“Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti  today submitted detail record of all panel visits and massive corruption in relief packages since June 2005 vidarbha farmers and farm widows have been subjected for the trial on committees over committees and it started with visit national farmers commission headed by Dr.Swaminathan flowed special expert team of planning commission in 2006 and then mega visit of Indian Prime Minister Dr.Man Mohansingh  and relief package of Rs.3750/- crore but relief never reached to dying farmers and farm widows then visit of Indian Prez. and another expert committee of planning commission member Dr. Narendra Jadhav who submitted detail report of vidarbha agrarian crisis in 2007  and suggested hundreds of remedies and  relief plans which are gathering dust in Mantralaya then 2008 mega loan waiver and visit  of Indian prince Rahul Gandhi to Yavatmal after failure loan waiver and in-between CAG  and PAC  submitted detail report Massive corruption  in all relief packages and all involved in corruption are as safe as Maharashtra insensitive Govt. to this very serious issue of innocent victimization of cotton farmers’ who are forced to kill themselves due wrong policies of state and step motherly treatment to vidarbha region hence we have lost all hope in such committee ,Tiwari added.
“Such visits are of expert who are knowing cause of backwardness are just rubbing salt to wound of vidarbha farmers and tribal who are being treated like slaves of Maharashtra rulers .if Maharashtra Govt. fails to stop on going innocent cotton farmers suicides they should give separate vidarbha statehood so that people can decide their own density ”Tiwari said.
“We have met Dr.Vijay Kelkar as he is basically from Akola knows ground reality ,have urged him to recommend demand of separate vidarbha  as that only option left  in order to save 3 million debt trapped cotton farmers who are killing themselves 8 hourly since 2005 and all relief packages in the name of farmers are being siphoned out western Maharashtra political leaders that only reason of vidarbha backwardness” Tiwari said
